Health and well-being

Good hygiene is an important part of everyday life at Green Roots. Handwashing facilities are available throughout the nursery, and frequently used surfaces and equipment are cleaned regularly. Children are supported to develop good hygiene habits, including regular handwashing and appropriate use of tissues.

Security

We take the safety and security of children at Green Roots extremely seriously. The nursery uses a biometric entry system for authorised staff, alongside controlled visitor access and CCTV.

We also use collection passwords and identity checks where appropriate to help ensure children are only collected by authorised adults. Our team follows clear safeguarding and security procedures throughout the nursery day.

Menu & nutrition

We are dedicated to maintaining our very high standards in food preparation to provide healthy choices and a culturally diverse menu so that children can experience a wide array of different flavours and textures. All food is prepared fresh in our kitchen and we can also accommodate a variety of different diets.

We encourage children to serve themselves when possible, and meal times are also an opportunity for social interaction, as children learn from each other and learn good table manners.

Tracking children's development

We use Famly to help parents and carers stay connected with their child’s development and everyday nursery life. Through the secure Famly app, you can access daily updates, photos, assessments, messages, invoices, accident forms and important notices.

Parents and carers have 24/7 access to their information through the app, while members of the Green Roots team respond to messages during nursery working hours. Famly helps us share your child’s progress clearly and work in partnership with you throughout their time at Green Roots.
