Green Roots Nursery & Pre-School

Our team

Everyone in our team enjoys coming to Green Roots, and has an enthusiastic and warm attitude when caring for your child. We believe that a great childcare centre and a great place to go to work go hand in hand, so we strive to only employ the best possible team. All members of staff have been carefully selected, vetted and security checked to ensure your child receives the best care.

Teamwork

We expect a lot from our team and in return we offer a continuous training and development programme; a lovely setting to work in with rewards and incentives.

Our Managers hold a Designated Safeguarding Qualification and are qualified First Aiders. It is our aim that 100% of our team are paediatric first aid qualified.

In addition to this, our team has access to training courses through West Sussex Council and external trainers who train our team on site on a variety of topics. All staff undertake online training on subjects including Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Safeguarding, Moving & Handling and Food Hygiene.

Our annual team survey, which can be taken anonymously, gives every colleague the chance to voice their opinions and suggestions.

Gemma Lawson, Manager

Gemma Lawson

DIRECTOR

Gemma has 17 years of experience running childcare businesses, 11 years of experience as a Childminder and a Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care.

“I was delighted to open Green Roots Nursery in September 2013. I’ve always been passionate about childcare and I wanted to set up a nursery that was exceptional in terms of the nurturing care and attention that it gives the children, and also the service that it provided for parents. As an accredited childminder for many years, I learnt the importance of understanding each child’s individual needs and the benefits of providing each child with the opportunity to have real life experiences and be active indoors and out.”

Lauren Woznicki, Deputy Manager

Lauren Woznicki

MANAGER

Lauren has a Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care, and a Level 5 Diploma in management. SENCO/INCO – Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator/Inclusion Co-ordinator.

“Nurturing, supporting and looking after children has always been a passion of mine. I thoroughly enjoy teaching the children and learning from them every day. Green Roots creates a secure, happy and nurturing environment for all children and this really shows through their progression from babies until they are ready for school. The garden area in particular holds a wide range of thought provoking and fascinating activities for the children which is great to be part of.”

Experienced and caring team

All of the Green Roots team receive a thorough induction upon appointment in order to fully understand their role and the Green Roots ethos.

Deputy Manager

Our Deputy Manager supports the Manager in the day to day running of the nursery.

Lead and Senior Practitioners

Our Lead and Senior Practitioners are responsible for leading the curriculum framework and Pedagogical practice. They hold higher qualifications, such as Qualified Teacher status and have years of experience working in Early Years.

Early Years Practitioners

All of our Nursery Practitioners (Level 2 and 3), hold a minimum of a Level 2 Childcare qualification, and some also hold a Degree in Childcare. The Practitioners form a friendly team who are all passionate about childcare.

Trainee Early Years Practitioner

Our Trainees are very enthusiastic about beginning their rewarding career in childcare. At Green Roots, we support them on this journey as they work towards a Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification.

Early Years Workers

The Early Years Workers generally work part time and support the nursery and pre school when needed, removing the need to use agency workers.

“The staff are so kind and caring with a real child-centred approach to learning. As a parent, I feel so confident and comfortable leaving my daughter at this centre and I really feel like my concerns and feelings are listened to.”

Caroline O, parent

Our chef

Our experienced, qualified and talented Chef provides our award-winning meals throughout the day and is always on hand to discuss the menus or any special dietary requirements.

The Chef uses fresh, healthy and nutritious ingredients, ensuring our kitchen meets the highest rating of (5), from the Food Standards Agency, and most importantly ensures the children enjoy their meals!
