COVID-19

Please note that with the new Covid-19 November lockdown, we will remain open and are required to follow the Government Guidance for Early Years settings. Our ethos remains the same, however we’ve established new policies to ensure the health and safety of all children, as well as our staff.

Health

We ask that no one attends Green Roots if they have symptoms of Coronavirus, no matter how mild and that stay at home guidance must be followed. We must also be informed immediately if any child or employee has Covid-19 symptoms.

Children will be supported in age appropriate ways to understand the steps they can take to keep themselves safe. Our Practitioners ensure that they are aware of children’s attachments and their need for emotional support at this time. We ask that parents and carers talk to their children about coronavirus, social distancing and hand washing.

Hygiene

Sufficient hand washing facilities and hand sanitiser are provided throughout the building, including outside of the entrance areas. We ask everyone to clean their hands on arrival, before and after eating and after sneezing or coughing. We also encourage that all adults and children do not touch their mouth, eyes and nose, and use a tissue when coughing or sneezing.

We follow the Covid-19 cleaning of non-healthcare settings guidance, and clean all surfaces that children are touching. The entire building receives a thorough clean at the end of the day, and no outdoor footwear is to be worn in areas where babies are cared for.

Dropping off & collecting children

We want to maintain a safe drop off and collection of all children so, although restrictions have eased, we will continue using the two main doors to the building for this. We will, however, welcome parents/carers and other visitors into the setting if they so require.

Parents and carers are asked to wait in the queues along the sides of the car park as children are brought to the doors to meet their Practitioner. To ease the challenges of children arriving and settling in, breakfast will only be offered to those with an Early Start.

Covid-19 Safe

At Green Roots, we take health and safety very seriously and do our best to limit the risk of exposure to Covid-19 for all children and staff.

Safety

We have strict safety and security measures at Green Roots to ensure children are safe when they arrive with us such as: Biometric fingerprint entry, secure windows and doors and camera/mobile phone policies. The majority of our staff are also first aid trained.

Play areas

Each group will be based in their own area however, at some points during the day the children may mix with another group. This mixing will mainly take place in outdoor areas. Learning environments for those groups will be organised to maintain space and all areas will be well ventilated.

Visits

We are now able to offer visits within opening hours. If you would like to request a visit please contact us via email or telephone or alternatively, please view our virtual tour page.
