Green Roots Nursery & Pre-School

Take a tour

Welcome to Green Roots Nursery & Pre-School. Green Roots is a welcoming environment where your child has the freedom to learn and grow into their own person. We are always delighted to invite prospective families to come and visit us, however we follow the current Covid-19 restrictions that are in place. Please contact us if you would like to visit and we can let you know the type of visit we are able to offer.

We understand that it’s important to view the spaces and facilities when choosing a nursery for your child, therefore we have photos of our different areas and welcome you to contact us so that we can talk you through the services we provide.

Our spaces

Due to the Government Guidance for Early Years settings, we have adapted our building into 4 different areas to minimise group numbers and implement social distancing. All areas have age appropriate resources and activities, as well as access to outdoor play spaces. All children have their own Key Person, eat their meals within their groups, have access to their own toilets, nappy change areas, and hand washing facilities.

Yellow area

Explorers - Babies

The Yellow area is designated for babies, from a few months old to approximately 16 months old. This area is based downstairs and contains 1 playroom and sleep area.

Each child has a Key Person to receive individual attention and all the cuddles they wish for. Our home from home environment gives children a feeling of safety and comfort so that they can feel as at home, and cared for as possible.

Blue area

Explorers

The Blue area is for our second grouping of Explorers, for children aged 16 months to approximately 2 years. This area is also based downstairs and contains 1 large playroom, decking area, milk kitchen and sleep room.

The Blue area has access to the Explorers garden for most of the day so that the children can engage in outdoor play. Explorers focus on tactical activities, physical crawling and exploring the space while taking everything in, as some begin to take their first steps independently.

Adventurers

The Adventurer’s group are based downstairs and have access to 2 large playrooms, as well as a large decking area. They also have free-flow access to the garden for fresh air and outdoor play. Our easily accessible toilets, (which have won an award from Bog Standards) also give the children the space they need to become more independent.

The Adventurer’s area reflects the EYFS (Early Year’s Foundation Stage) Framework, with opportunities to develop reading, maths, and technology skills (ICT), as well as delving into imaginative play and developing social skills.

Red area

Pre-school

The Red area is for Pre-school children, aged 3 and up, who will be joining school the following September. This group is based upstairs and are spread across 2 playrooms.

The Pre-school children engage in more structured learning, with a number of adult led activities, designed to further develop their independence. At Green Roots, we strive to prepare the children for school, by developing their cognitive and behavioural abilities through our School Readiness Programme.

hi

“The environment first attracted me, with its free flow ethos and clean new equipment. The garden is super and a sensory dream for babies and toddlers.”

Entrance

We have 2 entrance areas located at the front of the building. Children must be dropped off outside where they will be collected by their Key Person. Handwashing and sanitisation facilities are also present upon entry, and we ask all children and staff who enter the building to thoroughly wash their hands. Please read our Covid-19 page for information about dropping off and picking up your child.

Home-from-home spaces

Indoor spaces

We have designed a welcoming and comforting environment at Green Roots so children can feel at home. As children go through the “into everything” phase, their interest and confidence grow, as their mobility, dexterity and language improve. We help this development by providing purpose-built, age relevant furniture, toys and resources so their learning can flourish.

From ICT to role play, exciting activities or quieter areas, we have created a variety of different options so that children can choose where and how they want to learn.

Outdoor spaces

Outdoor play and fresh air are the basic principles of what makes Green Roots truly a “green” and different experience. We provide opportunities at every turn for children to go outdoors to play and explore. Our imaginatively created garden has play equipment, different surfaces and resources so there is always plenty to do.

In our Blooming Schools award winning garden, children will also grow plants and vegetables with us, providing in itself a wonderful multi-sensory experience.
