The children thoroughly enjoyed Beach School today, during our walk there and back the children took part in conversations about what we could see along the road.
We talked about what each house looked like and the cars, and made connections to the children’s own houses and cars. We also listened carefully to the different sounds we could hear and made sensible guesses at what might be making each noise. Whilst we were at the beach we all looked for interesting stones and shells.
We talked about their colours and shapes and compared them. We were able to look at water snails that lived on some of the stones and were amazed at how tiny they were. We also threw stones in to the water!
In amongst some of the wet stones and mud we had great fun spotting crabs, watching them walk and scuttle behind stones or sink themselves into the mud.
Everyone clearly enjoyed their trip to the beach!
