Food – a sensory & social exploration

Introducing flavours from around the world means every mealtime is an opportunity to learn, and not just about the food.  Mealtimes with us are sociable and fun, with healthy balanced meals and creative menus that help children develop a real interest in what they are eating.

Eating together in different age groups, with our staff team, facilitates social interaction, a chance to relax and form friendships. Children learn from each other, exploring new textures and flavours, helping to serve each other, learning good table manners and encouraging those who may be more timid around food.

Having first helped to grow the vegetables in our garden, we encourage children to be involved with mealtimes by serving themselves whenever possible and organising regular cooking activities with our Chef.  This can prevent bad food habits and we judge our efforts on the results – empty plates after every meal, smiling faces and glowing skin!

Our chef prepares everything fresh on site and we will do our best to accommodate individual diets whether medical, cultural, ethical, religious or based on personal preference.

Whenever possible our food is brought from local suppliers, for example our meat is purchased from local farmer Tim Hoare at Adsdean Farm shop in Funtington.

Babies

We provide formula milk for babies and follow your feeding routine.

Our Babies Room comes with a separate milk preparation area where we can also store and prepare bottles of expressed milk if you are breastfeeding.

Weaning

We are seasoned weaners.  Our on-site chef helps with menu choices at this important time to encourage exploration of flavours and textures in conjunction with government health guidelines.
