We operate within the governments Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). 

Green Roots has been designed specifically around this framework because it recognises the holistic nature of development and learning.

The emphasis of EYFS is that children learn through interaction with people and exploring the world around them. EYFS identifies the individuality, efforts and achievements of children and recognises that learning and development take place during all activities.

Freedom

We want children to be free to make choices, free to move around our playrooms, gardens and outdoor areas and be free to play, talk, run, observe, talk, experiment, taste, test, respond, reflect, learn, create, explore, repeat, question, plan, engage, develop….

Individual records

We know the importance of understanding each child’s individual needs. We observe and monitor each child’s development stage to ensure they have a great roots for further learning and that any areas of concern are supported in partnership with parents and when necessary additional professionals. We complete a review for each child when they reach 2 years which helps us all to ensure every child joins school raring to go.

We use an online system to record, plan, and share each child’s learning journey. Each parent has a secure log in in which you are able to view and add information to  your child’s progress at any time.  The system also has the facility to record daily information including photos.
