Adventurers Playroom (from 2 years approx.)

Toddlers are wonderful to watch and interact with. Growing in independence, their unique personalities are starting to emerge and along with them their social and self-care skills.

We can but admire and support this exciting developmental stage with a wide range of purposeful play activities, life skills training and shared meal times where children are encouraged to feed themselves… indeed everything we do with toddlers provides strong roots for a life-long love of learning.

We love to share in this crazily exciting, experiential world

So we give our adventurers at Green Roots as much variety, stimulation and support to “get stuck in” as we can with natural, real-life experiences.

The Downstairs Playroom reflects the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework, with opportunities galore for development of early reading and maths skills, mark-making, imaginative play and ICT.

Pre-school – a fast, furious and brilliant development phase that’s well catered for at Green Roots

From age 3 to 5, children are becoming more comfortable expressing themselves using words and our growing in confidence. They have more self-control and are more attentive, relying less on others and more on themselves. With finer motor skills and enquiring minds, the world and all its incredible mysteries are there to be explored… and of course, endlessly questioned!

We encourage self confidence and give pre-schoolers the freedom to spark and explore their individual interests. Our greatest pleasure is seeing children in our pre-school care get real enjoyment out of learning, so when they start school they’re self assured and raring to go.

From January we start preparations to support a smooth transition for all children joining school in September.  Our ‘School Readiness Program’ ensures the children are holistically ready for the new challenges of school. Our program focusses on school-related topics, these will encourage group discussion so the children know what to expect when they start school.  We strive to support the children with their self-help skills, decision making skills, and expressions of thoughts and opinions.

Focus Room

Our Focus room is a fantastic space small groups of children can take part in wonderful activities which will really enhance their learning.  The daily activities our Pre-school children take part in really help to prepare them to be ready and raring to join school.

 Adventure School Outings

From the age of 3 years our Pre-school children go on regular Adventure school outings (which are at no additional charge).

Prinsted Beach

Our Pre-school children enjoy regular outings to Prinsted beach where the activities they take part in spark their fascination with the natural marine world.

We also go on regular outings to; Dell Quay Harbor Education Centre, Peter Ashley Activity Centre, Tuppeny Barn, Library, Post Office, Farm shop all from which the children gain wonderful experiences. (There are no additional charges for the children to attend.)
