Learning

A natural approach is at the heart of learning

Wherever possible Green Roots is all about fresh ideas and natural, real-life resources.

When children are engaged through play and having fun they learn the most.

Fresh air brings fresh ideas

Children love being active and outdoors, finding what interests them for themselves. Our planned activities help them to develop new skills, with the understanding and enjoyment of learning.

Purposeful play

Purposeful play means whatever sparks their interest and enthusiasm we can use as a tool to assist a child’s learning and development.

Learning through ‘purposeful play’ is the foundation of everything we do at Green Roots. From the design of our facilities, resources and activities to giving children the time, freedom and choice to explore diverse real life experiences.

We will ensure there is always plenty to choose from and every child receives the support they need to get the most from each activity. This way every child takes an active role in their learning, they are able to use what interests them, to engross themselves fully, enjoy and feel confident in what they are doing

Activities are child-led as much as possible and with each step of achievement your child makes we will ensure they have the resources and support to further their development.

We embrace every child as an individual, with their own unique learning style.

We operate under EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage), a government framework which recognises the holistic nature of development and learning across all key areas. Through working in partnership with parents (and when necessary additional professionals) we will support your child´s individual needs and development.

Exceeding expectations

When they reach 2 years old we complete a review which helps us to identify any areas where a child may need additional support, for example speech or language difficulties, to ensure that by the age the child joins school they are raring to go. At all times parents have secure online access to their child’s learning journey, records, plans and photos and can add information if they wish.

We aim exceed OFSTED regulations in all areas, going above and beyond in everything we do, including our adult to child ratios.

Happy people make for happy children so we carefully select our team. They are vetted, security checked and most importantly, are naturally happy in this environment.
